No Auto Shut Down Win95

Since I upgraded to IE5.50 when I goto Shut Down the process stops
at the screen that says Wait While Win95 Shuts Down Safely...
Sometimes it just skips the Shut Down Screen and goes to a blue
screen that checks for boot disk viruses. How can I get win95 to
complete the Shut Down Process? Since having to shut it off forces
me through the Scanning Disk Process at StartUp b/c it was
Improperly Shut Down. I am concerned this might burnout my mobo.
Thanks
