Remote Assistance Problem

My brother recently went through a series of problems woth his MOBO. His south Bridge chip fried. The MOBO was sent back and repaired guess what? South Bridge fried again. After sending the MOBO back and finaly replaced with a new one (ASUS RMA is great!), a friend rebuilt his system (Thanks Panama Red !!!!!!). Well he had a small problem with a new DVD burner he bought and wanted me to help him figure out what was going on. I told him to send me a remote assistance request. He sent it and his email said it was sent. I never recieved it. We checked all of his email protocols and there were right. I am stumped because we had it working when he first recieved the system. What else should I be looking at?

Also I want to take a moment to thank Panama Red for all of his help. He lives near my brother and went out of his way to get things working again. So all of you NAY SAYERS PC MECH is the best place to get reliable help. Even to the point of making house calls!!!!!!

Hey Carl. Think I know what the problem may be. I may have Disabled a service necessary for Remote Assistance to function. Have Tom check the Remote Desktop Help Session Manager and the Secondary Logon. I usually Disable them when I "tweak" the Services. Also check the Remote tab of System Properties and see if Remote Assistance is turned on.

I'd bet his real problem with the burner is the jumper setting. When he called this am I told him to set the jumper in the same position as the old drive. Double check that. Sorry for the Services "tweak". Forgot that you do things by remote control!

Yup, BV's recommendations are what I tend to follow. But ya gotta make sure each one applies to your situation/machine.
