Volume Manager Problem in XP

I am having a bit of an issue with XP assigning a volume label to a Flash Drive when it is inserted.

The drivers have all been loaded for the Flash Drive, but there is no Volume label (D: or E: etc) assigned. I therefore cannot access the info on the drive or save files to it.

When I click on the icon to remove the drive safely, it stipulates that there is a problem with the driver assigned by the Volume Manager.

What could the problem be?

A little more info, please. System make, OS, etc. You say the drivers for the flash drive are loaded, what kind of flash drive? Are the motherboard/chipset drivers loaded?

OS = Windows XP Home
Make of PC = Acer Travelmate 233X
Flash Drive = Kalliba 128MB USB 1.1

As for the motherboard/chipset drivers being loaded I have no idea. How do I check that ?

The system is virtually the same as the Desk Top system that I am currently working on and I have no problems with this one.

I suspect that the problem is that you installed drivers for the flash drive and they are conflicting with XP as XP shouldn't require any drivers for a flash drive. Check your add/remove programs to see if there is an uninstall for your flash drive drivers.

The drivers are the XP installed drivers for the USB Mass Storage Device. I didn't install the drivers that come with the drive.

When I go to the Device Manager and check the properties of the Flash Drive it stipulates that the device is working properly. However it just does not show up as a Volume on My Computer as it does on all the other PC's I have used it on.
