system idle process?

im runnin xp pro on a hp pavilion laptop, 2.4g p4, 512 ram....seems since i installed sp1 its been runnin slow, b4 when i right clicked something the box popped right up, now it takes at least 5 seconds.....in task mngr, system idle process is using between 41-91 cpu, and services.exe bounces between 18-22....dont remember them bein that high or even there b4 sp1...i dont got sp2 cuz i havent heard anything but issues with it....any1 help that would be sweet, thanx

System idle process is just that.... your system idling, so when you are doing nothing, it should be in the high 90's.

services.exe could be anything, but when unusually high, I would be doing spyware and virus scans.

yea, im runnin adaware, spysweeper, and nav2005, all come up clean....im also runnin pc bugdoctor and registry mechanic 4.0.....i figured spyware or a virus but nothings being picked up....this only started being an issue since i installed sp1, was running quick without it, didnt know if it was just a coincidence or what
