internet cut off
Hi, I have installed SP2 win updates and was running ok to me but since than more and more often now when I clic on links to access more info specially on Windows sites , I am disconnected by an error that stop IE6 and have to reload the site and come to the same result if I try again. I suspect SP2 to do it. If Iam right what is the solution if any.

What does the error message say?
Are you on dialup, broadband or wireless?

yes on dial up (no choice here) and the error is the famous the program will close down and than we have a choice to send a report to Microsoft. Actually it is not closing the net but IE6, sorry.

hETUL, how would you like it if you posted a problem with Firefox, and someone told you to change to IE?
This is not the kind of help we want here. |

Hey,
I had some serious problems with SP2 and my internet connection as well... mine differed as the problem was that the dsl line dropped on occassion, for no apparent reason. After some research and chats with microsoft tech support I realized SP2 was the problem. Sp2 has been causing a lot of problems with people's connections and internet, most likely due to the new security system it implements. I do not doubt that SP2 is causing this problem and suggest that you uninstall SP2 by going to add/remove programs. I did this and haven't had a single problem with my computer since. Also, the windows SP2 security system and built in firewall, although are nothing to shake a stick at, cause a lot of problems for many people. That is my suggestion, good luck. E-mail me if you need to ask me a question. -enfuego1018@verizon.net |

well I will probably have to drop SP2 also . I thought it could be fix in a way or Microsoft would bring a fix to SP2 but it is getting long to wait. I guess I could remove it now and install it later if I want too. Thanks for sharing your problem, It really help in my decision. God bless

You may be able to remove IPv6 instead of the whole service pack for a temp fix. Without the actual error, I don't know exactly what it is. The error reporting tool is just that, not the actual error itself. If Internet Explorer is actually just closing on it's own, I doubt it has anything to do with SP2 itself.
