fqpissed Error: ...could not find update.inf

I ran a Windows automatic update on my PC, the OS is XP. I was hoping the system will be upgraded from SP1 to SP2. At the end the process, I still see "SP1" on the System Properties.
Observation:
I discovered a folder after the update and explored it, the directory tree is: 79eb1e1ce359c4d09c7e50de15e2efba\sp2\update.exe
I think this is the update that didn't work. I tried executing the file and this is what I got:

Quote:
Setup could not find the update.inf file needed to update your system.
What next? Should I suspect Virus? Is this the update I need? What is it doing there, just sitting on my harddisk? What happened to the update.inf file? Where do I get a replacement? Do I need to replace it?

I'm not a fan of the Web update to install service packs so download the network install or order SP2 on cd and go from there.
