reg enteries

I was pruning in the reg the other day and
I noticed all these porn enteries. I mean a
lot of em! Now I won't say that I "never"
smut surf. But its not at the top of the
list of things to do. When I asked some
other ppl abou it, they all seemed shocked.
You know how it goes. No one ever goes to
those sites or stores, but its a billion
dollar a yr industry. I figure me and about
ten other ppl spend a few million a yr at
it. Or, some folks could be lieing :-)
anyway, at :

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Window
s\CurrentVersion\Internet

Settings\ZoneMap\Domains
I found all the threads. So I got to
wondering, since believe it or not, I had
never seen any of these site, 900 dialers etc,,,
I checked on my new box, which again,
believe it or not, has not seen any porn.
NONE. But here they were again. And a lot
of the same ones! How is this? And can I
del these enteries?
signed, confused and lonely (thats a joke).

Are you using any spyware/adware removers such as Ad-aware, Spybot S & D, SpywareBlaster, even the new Microsoft Antispyware and a good antivirus such as AVG or Norton Antivirus. I'm surprised you haven't been hijacked yet. A word to the wise if you must look at these things try the magazines and not the internet.

HI Briab Guy

Im betting if you over half of those are protection bits from
if you use any of these programs

Spyblaster
Spybots S/D immunize function
ie-spyads

I just did an experiment by unistalling them and watching the sites go away as they got uninstalled
when i reinstalled they came back

my recomendation would be to leave them in there if you use any of these programs or any protection programs that put kill bits into the registry

ahhh, great words of wisdom

try the magazines and not the internet
hmmmm, if I must. Someone else said I was gonna go blind or grow hair on my feet.....

Anyway, Thanks, I am now sur that they are from a spyware app or two, or three,,,,
I try to keep security tight. I recently switched from Norton to NOD32, which from reading around is a very good program.
You can compare some AV's here:

NOD32 is one of the best in the world but spy(add)ware are unstoppable by AV software alone this day's you have to keep all 3 protections(ICF, AV, ASpy) to close any possible gap for attacks.
