Unable to download or install programs.
I recently aquired this Emachine that was upgraded to XP-Pro from windows Me, I was able to download My ISP but that's it. I couldn't download the (sp2) or any other microsoft tool. I also can't load any programs from the disk drive.I ran a microsoft scan for viruses but it cleared.I would be very gratefull for any advice......Thanks....

Are you saying that if you go to Start>All Programs, none of those programs will start? Or do you mean the desktop icons are not working?
When you are online do pages load up and everthing seems good except it will not allow you to download? If so, does the screen say anything that may be a clue as to why it will not download the file? |

Hello, Thank's for responding. I am able to run programs from my start menu
and on my desktop,(already installed programs), But it won't let me load any software from the DVD ROM Drive. I am able to get online but any browsing is extremely slow and I have had no luck downloading anything from the web.I am trying to download updates from microsoft including the SP2 but am unable. It does say that the current settings will not allow the download, I have reset the browser settings and internet options to default but to no avail. What kind of connection do you have ?
Do you have SP1 or is it clean install of XP?
