XP SP2 browsing issues

Hi Max here

I upgraded to XP Pro SP2 and emule almost died, I looked in the event viewer saw the 4226 errors and applied the Patch (EvID4226Patch212-en from LvlLord.de) I opened it out to 100 connections. No more 4226 errors.

However General browsing is still very slow and I get a great deal of page time outs. Admittedly there has been a marked improvement in emule, but it is still not working as well as it did on my 512 connection (I now have a 1GB Broadband connection),before I upgraded to SP2. I think there is something else that is affecting browsing and P2P.
I have done all the Spyware tests using Spybot SD V1.3, Adaware SE Professional, Pest Patrol, Xsoft Spy, Spyware Blaster and Spyware Guard etc.

I use IE and Mozilla Firefox for browsing.
Emule version 45b

When installing service pack 2 it adds extra processes in the background and updates some of the registry. If also updates the internal firewall within windows xp and can block the webpages and stop you as the user from accessing the internet.

All i can suggest is to check just what processes are running in the background through task manager and if any unknown processes are active stop them from loading using "msconfig"

Thanks for That

I have already looked at the processes and can find nothing untoward, but I appreciate the response anyway.

Thanks Again

Max
