"system has detected a conflict"
THis come up every now and again and I just click Ok, but I supose I should do something about it ? It just says conflict: IP address so and so and hardware address such and such.

That means that another device in your network has the same IP address. This can happen when you assign static IP's without knowing exactly what you are doing.

I had set some of the ips manually during the last week while trying to change my network over to wireless but they are all now set to " obtain ip address automatically" and a visual check of each one at 'cmd/ipconfig /all ', shows all 4 with different physical and ip addresses.
Ps: The ip address showing in the 'system conflict' nag is different from the ip address showing at ''cmd/ipconfig' and is not the same as any of the other 3. Last edited by Parangles; 03-06-2005 at 07:19 PM. |

Check all the adapters - if you have multiple adapters in a machine you may have neglected to change them all back to automatic.
