What's the best way to share Dial-Up between computers?

I have a customer who is currently using Earthlink dial-up to access the internet. She's eventually going to get Comcast cable internet, but for now she wants to share the connection on her desktop machine with her husband's laptop. They got a Belkin wireless router for $10 after rebate, but I decided that I'd disable the DHCP and firewall in it and use her desktop as a gateway for the laptop by means of Windows XP Internet Connection Sharing.

The problem is that there are some reliability concerns with the current setup. Basically, it worked fine when I tested it out on Friday night, but I just got a frantic call about an hour ago that she couldn't get on the internet. I walked her through ipconfig and she is getting an IP from Earthlink, but cannot ping google.com or access any other sites through her browser. I'm not sure if it's related to her Earthlink toolbar, which I disabled but has now come back.

So my question is this: is ICS the best way to share her connection, or should I set up an alternative app or even a hardware solution? I want her to have a reliable connection until she gets cable, and she seems not to have that now. I am going over tomorrow after my day job to troubleshoot. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The only reliable way I've ever seen for sharing dialup wirelessly is with 2 wireless adapters in ad-hoc using ICS. Park the router till she gets cable.

I share dial-up between 3 computers, with 2 being wireless laptops. Here's my setup.

1: with the desktop connected to the wireless router disable the routers DCHP assigning.
2: get a program called Sygate Home/Office Network. follow the instructions and make sure that when it is detecting your dialup settings, that you are online.
It works good for us.
