Unhappy Windows XP SP2 crashes on boot

Hey,

I've just installed SP2 on my system and now each time i try to boot up, the system hangs when it reaches the xp logo with the progress bar below it. (Edit, the colour is now not inverted, but the progress bar never appears and after 15 seconds the system restarts). When this happens, the colour on the screen inverts for some reason and after 10 or so seconds the system restarts and go's through the same process. I cannot even get into safe mode as the same effect happens (after showing the driver's etc. loading in the list, the screen gets totally corrupted and hangs). before installing SP2 the system has been running perfectly for 4 months (has been used for both sound/3d work and gaming).

any ideas?

EDIT:-

I have found that even though i am unable to login in safe mode, the PC hangs at the same point each time, while loading the driver AGP440.sys

does this mean anything to anyone?

cheers,

Matt.
