XP - Legal
Hey all,
Just wondering what the law is on Windows XP installation - do you need individual purchased cplies for each machine? Difference in OEM and Retail versions. The application is for buisness - 5-10 PC's |

The difference between OEM and retail is "support," such as phone services and whatnot. Retail has support for some given amount of time, OEM doesn't. I go for OEM on any software I purchase, I don't want to deal with phone calls when I have the internet at my disposal.
You need one license for every XP installation, or a Corp(Don't know what the name is) version of XP that is made to be installed on multiple machines. |

You can use one CD to install as many licenses as you have.

You can generally buy OEM packs from online vendors cheaper than you can buy additional licenses from M$. OEM packs are sold in units of 3, and individually. The only way a corporate bulk license deal will save you money is if you have a LOT of machines.
