Booting into CMD Prompt

ok so ive searched these forums, and to my dismay found "an orgy of information" so here is my question. Is there any way to boot windows XP into a command prompt mode...ive tried F8 and nothing seemed to work, all the safe modes took me to a login screen, and the other stuff...well to be honest i dont know what the hell it did/does....

all i want to do is boot straight to dos or a cmd prompt!!!!!!!!!

thanks

Nash

*edit...i can make a boot cd (no diskette drive) but i dont know how to do that either lol

you can download tweak ui which will automatically log you into your computer
once you set it up then you can boot into Safe Mode with Command Prompt
