Need help with command
Hey guys,
I'm having trouble using the net send feature as part of XP's integrated messenger services. I'm sure I'm typing the syntax in correctly, but it's just not working. Sometimes it says the message I wanted to send sent successfully but no message comes up and sometimes it doesn't and gives me an error message. I went to look in services that are currently active on my computer and found that the messenger service was disabled, which explains why it wasn't working! How do I enable it? The option to start it is greyed out. Is there something I have to tweak somewhere? TIA...

WHat is the "startup type?" If it's set to disabled you need to change it to manual or auto.

You can click right mouse button on messenger service and open properties and configure start option for this service to AUTO, MANUALY or DISABLED!!!!

Thanks EzyStvy and macko72!
![]() I got it started and it worked. I find one thing a little weird though, I type in net send {name | /DOMAIN:[name] | (message)} sometimes with or without the spacers in between each part of the syntax and it comes back with "The file directory, volume label or syntax is incorrect". I thought this was what you are supposed to type in? But anyway, just typing in "net send (username or computer name) (my message)" without the quote marks and it works! Thanks again!!
