booting in safe mode in XP home
I can't seem to be able to boot to safe mode in XP. I have latest updates. When I hit F8 it gives me the option but it just keeps going back to start window normally for some reason. Do I need to use safe mode to safely use the restore funtion anyway? thanks

Go to Start, Run, type in msconfig, and click OK. When the System Configuration Utility window comes up, click the BOOT.INI tab, select SAFEBOOT, and then OK. You will get asked to reboot and when you do, it will come up in Safe Mode.
When you're done in Safe Mode, go back to msconfig and remove the checkmark from SAFEMODE.

No it isn't necessary but you shouldn't be having a problem getting into it either.
