Boom xp installation

Thanks in advance for your replies.

I am installing windows xp on a IBM thinkpad 2621 rr5(1400 series). The problem is that everytime I try to install it, it either freezes during network installation or during final installation. I looked up the problem, and I saw that other people had the same problem, they just updated the bios. So I updated the bios. Then I saw one of the faults that I had lssxe fault, found that it was a possible virus problem, or a registry conflict. This is a new hdd on this laptop ( a seagate 5400rpm 40gig, ata 100) there has never been anything on it before the installation of windows and i formated it with windows utility first. I am sorry to sound long winded, just wanted to let you guys know all that i did before your replied. Again thanks in advance, any help will be appreciated.

I believe it is objest not found. I'd have to go through the entire process again to find out. It onlt does that if I try to repair windows after it freezes during the network installation.

Ok, Now I have rma'ed the hdd back to newegg and got the new back. But I still have the same problem. I have tried all of the above agian with the new one, as well as trying to partion it with windows utility, that way it would have a smaller hdd to istall windows on. I tried putting new thermal paste on the cpu in case it was running hot. It still always freezes at some point of the istallation of windows, never the same spot. I am @ the end of my rope and do not know where to go from here. Please help me.

You either have a bad Windows CD or faulty ram.
