my taskbar seems to have broke 0.o

ok, ive got xphome sp2

problem is, i seem to have lost the little round 'expand the tray icons menu' button (the little round one with the white < in it), its been like this for quite a while now but just now its getting on my nerves (i dont think its an sp2 issuse as ive had that for ages and the problem occured after that)

ive done virus/adware scans and stuff like that and nothin is detected

also, it could be a problem with notron internet security, i have it setup to load on boot and show an icon in the system tray but its never there 0.o NAV is there along with msn and winamp, my lan icon and the time but not NIS.

anyone know how to fix this?

Cheers,
Nathan

Right click on the task bar and select properties. Place a check in "Hide Inactive Icons."

If you uncheck it, does it show all icons?

Niccohel, are you sure it not just hidden at the bottom for some reason? put your mouse on the very bottom of the screen, click and hold the left mouse button and drag it up.

if that doesnt work then wait for a smart person to answer >.<

and on my topic......
GLC, that program works and i definatley know its opening the programs i want it to but theres a problem, it opens NAV and NIS in a window instead of the taskbar, this isnt a problem really but when i click the 'X' button they close (or atleast they appear to have) and they havent got a '_' button :/

When i got to the taskmanager they are there but they have no icon or window do you know how i can get them to open in the system tray?

isnt there a command that i can add to the end of the shortcut that will make it open in the tray?

i can have a shourcut like "c:\program files\mozzila\firefox\firefox.exe" http:\\gmail.google.com

then when i click it it opens firefox with gmail open instead of the homepage that i set.

Nathan

For the taskbar problem, go to Kelly's Korner, scroll down to line 117 and click on "Restore Taskbar and Start Menu" to download the file. Run it according to the instructions at the top of the page.

Poke around on that page for a fix for the system tray icons, too (in XP, the new name for "system tray" is "notifcation area"). There are a couple for hiding/showing those icons.
