splat Cant install windows HELP!!!!!!!

I got a XP home upgrade pack but it wont install. I formatted my hard drive went into windows setup and when im preparing to install it it asks for a previous OS disk but i dont have one the only one i have is a cracked version that i got un wittingly i put it in but it just keeps repeating its self I tried to do it with out the other cd but it wont work in the booklet it says you dont have to have a prior OS. So right now my hard drive is clean and it should work like its the first time i ever had an OS shouldnt it please help.

The upgrade cd is just that - an upgrade. It will work as a full install as long as you can pop in a previous version cd..

You are going to have to find a genuine Win98/ME CD - OEM, retail, or upgrade. Restore CD's wont' work, and neither will cracked ones.
