Accesing files / Fixing partiation

i have a gateway with a 120gb hard drive, I had the hard drive in two partiations. originaly I installed XP home on one partiation and left the second blank. recently i installed XP media center 2005 on the second partiation and it worked fine. today i wanted to deleate the partiation with XP home so i could use it for storage. i put in my xp install disk and used it to deleate the first partiation and then reformat it blank. when i rebooted my pc gave some strange error and dident give me any o/s's to choose from. i havent touched the second partiation sut its as if its gone.
