I just downloaded SP2 for my XP. Upon restart, I noticed my taskbar had disappeared. After freaking out for a few minutes, I tried to get it back up. It's not merely hidden at the bottom of the screen. I can see a bar at the bottom, but I can't drag it up. Somehow I got it to come back (I think I went into properties and changed the appearance to classic or something like that). When I opened any files or minimized them, I noticed that they wouldn't collapse into the tabs on the taskbar, rather, they collapsed into tabs at the bottom of the screen, above the taskbar. Today, I start up my PC and it has disappeared again, and the fix I used yesterday does nothing at all. Any suggestions?

Go to Start>Control Panel>Taskbar and Start Menu under the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties make sure the boxes Lock Taskbar, Keep the Taskbar on top of other windows, and Show Quick Launch are checked, click OK and reboot.
