How to retrive info on XP
Hi,
My mobo just fried last week on my old comp....and the new one comes tomorrow...but i hooked up my hard drive on another computer today to transfer some files so i could just reinstall windows xp pro when i put my new computer back together...but i couldnt get in to "My Documents" folder to get very important things out of there....is there anyway i can get in there....and will hooking my harddrive up to my new computer will it run it right away on the first boot up so i can get those files?...thanks for any help |

Follow the steps in the MS Knowledge Base article, How to take ownership of a file or folder in Windows XP to get access to your files.
If the new motherboard is identical to the old, the drive should work without any problems. If it's a different motherboard, XP will probably demand to be reactivated since it will detect a major hardware change. |
