attempt to access invalid address

when i try and start some programs i get the following

-- attempt to access invalid address --

i uninstalled and reinstalled the app, but no luck.

any suggestions?

i am almost ready to hide in safe mode

Have you scanned your system for malware?
If it comes up clean do you have a Sytem Restore point you can use, one before all your problems started?
If that won't work you still have the option of a repair install of XP if you have the XP cd.

whats the program?
whats the file that it can't access?
whats the OS?
do you have sp2 or not?

wow, time flies...

1.program: 16 bit tide and chart program
2. cant access the executalbe
3. win xp
4. no sp2, but sp1

i have reinstalled win xp, no luck and have also scrubbed my comp clean.

You can try again running in XP's compatibility mode.
