XP on compaq laptop
hi
I have a really sick compaq laptop (armada E500) OS 98SE OEM and I don't have the 98 CD. is it possible to install on it a regular xp (not OEM) will it have all the drivers? thanks amose |

XP will not have the drivers for your compaq, and you need to supply it with the drivers to get your hardware functioning properly. You can either download it from: http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/fi...e/64_1006.html or order driver CDs from HP.

Its ok to install windows xp in your machine but make sure that your system specs is just right for windows xp. you can use the drivers that came with windows xp but if you had problems you can find drivers in your manufacturer's website or each components website. The common drivers that are not supported by xp is the modem. But you can download from dlink/linksys or whatever is your modem.
You want to add more memory at have at least 256MB-512MB for xp to be happy with it. |
