special_pool_detected_memory_corruption

That's the error I received after running verifier.exe to see what drivers were messed up (special_pool_detected_memory_corruption). This is what the windows article said about this error: Bug Check 0xC1 SPECIAL_POOL_DETECTED_MEMORY_CORRUPTION, defined as 0xC1, signals that the driver wrote to an invalid section of the special memory pool. Typically, the current thread's backtrace will reveal the source of the error. Can anyone tell me if this is a problem with my memory, my drivers, a combination of both and how to fix it????

Thanks,

Have no idea what any of this means:

How to Use Driver Verifier to Troubleshoot Windows Drivers
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;244617

Debugging Driver Verifier Violations

Both the !verifier command in the kernel debugger and the Verifier.exe tool show the current Driver Verifier configuration and statistics in real time.

All Driver Verifier violations result in bug checks, the most common ones (although not necessarily all of them) are:

SPECIAL_POOL_DETECTED_MEMORY_CORRUPTION 0xC1

I received your pm. Sorry but I don't do chats since I'm at the office...

Might help if you start at the begining of the story..Why were you running the verifier program? Is your pc acting up?

hey, thanks anyway

Yeah to say the least, the problem started about a month ago when my computer blue screened and shut off while i was playing counter strike. The driver that was messed up was kmixer.sys. I did everything within my small realm of knowledge to fix this problem and gave up, reformatted. Unfortunately its happening again. I think it may have something to do with my video card driver or bios. I just downloaded the latest driver for my video card from ati (catalyst 5.3 or w/e) and do not understand the source of the problem. It stopped blue screening for a while and then started again- first with a memory pool error of some sort and then kmixer.sys just recently. I am so confused, and I am sure it is not a virus. I thought it was originally but I have come to discover it is software/driver related. I have no idea what to do and am so frustrated. I uninstalled my useless nvidia sound drivers that came with my mobo but doubt that is the source of the problem. Another weird thing is I cant download windows updates- it doesnt recognize the downloads, so it cant install them...weird...Please help me if you can anyone and everyone, im desperate. Thanks a lot steve (?) for helping me out, i really appreciate it.
