Lost my toolbar and start menu. NEED HELP!

My brother in law was using the kids computer tonight to check e-mail, and now I can't seem to get the toolbar and start menu back.

I can't get it to reappear. I can get to Control Panel, via a folder, but when I try and click on Taskbar and Start Menu, nothing happens.

In this condition I can't even shut down properly, I have to throw the main switch.

Any suggestions?

Mark

Hey guys,

I tried all of those options, including the one from MajorGeeks, and still no toolbar.

Any other suggestions?

Not sure about the missing part, but if you ever have to shut down your system try alt-F4.

Try hitting the Windows key to pop up the start menu, then navigate to system restore. It should be in all programs, accessories, system tools.
