The source filter for this file could not be loaded - Windows Media Player 10

Hello! My name is Apoorva.

I am using Windows Media Player 10.

Now, I have bought a VCD from which I had copied a file AVSEQ.DAT on to E:\ and then I went to Tools - Folder Options and de-selected 'Hide File Extension of known types' and clicked on ok.

Then, I renamed the file AVSEQ.DAT to AVSEQ.mpg and then tried to play it in
Windows Media Player 10 but I am getting a error message as :
" The source filter for this file could not be loaded. "

Any help would be appreciated...
Apoorva.

Welcome to PCMech
WMP might not necessarily ship with MPEG2 codecs required to play the file. Download the k-lite codec pack (a google search should reveal it), it comes with the codecs you require to play the file and then some.
