Welcome Screen Not Showing

Im on windows XP Professional and I am not on a domain but a workgroup instead.

I want my computer to go to the welcome screen after I revive if from its screensaver however it isnt doing that.

I only have one user (me) and the guest user. I have the setting "use welcome screen" check in the control panel. However then it only uses the welcome screen on reboot instead of after a screensaver. I have a password but its showing the generic windows 2000 sign in screen instead of the welcome screen.

How do I fix this?

Have you done this: Right click on desktop > properties > "screen saver" tab > select a screensaver and check "on resume, password protect"

See if that does the trick.

Yeah I've done that. When I go to type in my password though, windows doesnt use the welcome screen, It just uses the generic windows 2000 login panel.

Go to Kelly's Korner, scroll down to line 161, in the right-hand column click on "Restore: On Resume Display Welcome Screen" to download a small file. Once downloaded, open it to run it and see if that fixes things.

Hmm, okay, new problem now. I still have a user password but when I return from screensaver It doesnt ask for a password anymore. I went to display properties and I wasnt able to click on "On resume, password protect" because it was greyed out and un-clickable, and it was unchecked.

In the control panel, however, the option to use the welcome screen was still active.
