Slow keyboard response
I have a Compaq in the shop and the customer pointed out when he left the machine that the keyboard was not working right. Sure enough it is messed up. I have to hold down each key about three seconds for each letter to appear. I know that they have some kind of wireless keyboard at their home because of the filterkeys icon in the taskbar. I have a regular keyboard attached. The computer had very little spyware. Found MSBlast and deleted that. They had applied all the updates including SP2 but had not removed the infection.
Can't run Trend online cause it says active x security prohibits...... Trojan cleaner found nothing (thecleaner4) I found that MSCOMCTL.OCX was missing and copied it from system.sav and then registered it. What could be causing the key problem? thanks, Alan |

i found this but don't know if it is going to fix the problem.
interesting, though in the keyboard filters paragraph it talks about SlowKeys requiring keys to be held down for a period of time before it accepts a keystroke. hope this is helpful to someone else. and me. http://www.microsoft.com/resources/d...a_apd_zmjv.asp yes, it fixed the problem. then i went to control panel accessibility options and unchecked the filterkeys option and the devil is gone. i had seen this on another computer and it annoyed me that i did not know what it was or where it came from.
