Fatal Error with new Windows XP install
During my install of Windows XP Media Edition on a new build I get a fatal error.
Error: SXS.DLL: Sytan error in manifest or policy file "H:\I386\asms\MSFT\\WINDOWS\GDIPLUS.MAN" on line 4 Error: Installation failed: H:\I386\ASMS. Error Message : Incorrect function Fatal Error: One of the components that Windows needs to continue setup could not be installed. Incorrect function Can anybody help me fix what is wrong? Thanks for your help.

Usually thats time to run an indepth memory tester program that runs from boot floppy, here's one I know of:

During installation windows loads files needed for installation in ram (well not all of them) but before you try one more time swich off computer and unplug it from electricity socket and leave it couple of hours then try again. I must say it helped me couple of times because some files or whatever get stack in ram and if you try constantly you will get diferent error messages every time you try to load windows. The second thing your CD-rom or IDE cable connecting Cd-rom and mobo maybe is faulty. So I'm trying to tell you to look both ways memory or CD_rom!!! And this is from my own expirience installing XP Media Centre on couple of machines!!! Last edited by macko72; 04-01-2005 at 05:08 PM. |
