HELP - Please!!!
I made a stupid mistake today after reading the PCMechanic tip of the Day, today.
I wanted to skip the Window login on my XP Pro, so opened the "control userpasswords2" routine and found some User Profiles that I don't recall setting up (my memory isn't as good as it used to be). Anyway, I then made the huge error of deleting a User Profile called 'Unknown'. Since then, I cannot Logon to XP using my normal Username and password, and get the following Logon Message:- "The system could not log you on, make sure your User name and domain are correct, then type your password again, letters in passwords must be types using the correct case". I can get to the 'C' drive and find My Documents (by logging in as the administrator), but cannot find the files relating to my Outlook 2003 files (e.g. e-mails, contacts, calendar etc) - all of which are very valuable to me!! I assume that by deleting the 'Unknown' User Profile, I have lost the keys to unlocking certain bits of information that define a User Profile; I reckon I shall probably have to create another User Account and transfer over the 'C:\My Documents' files, but how do I find my 'missing' Outlook files? Please can anybody help with some advice? |

svale,
First of all, welcome to PCMech! Do you have a system restore point set up on your machine? -LW |

Yes, sorry I forgot to mention that I have tried that. I had a 3 day old restore point and others which are older, but none of these would give me a successful system Restoration.
Any other ideas please? Ta! |

Yes, I saw Bill Lane's problem - but I foolishly went one stage further and deleted the 'Unknown' User Profile.
I'm resigned to the fact that I will probably not get back my previous profile, but I am concerned that I need access to my 'old' Outlook records.... Any other suggestions please?.... |
