Windows Install Won't Run
Hey guys i'd like some help here if you wouldn't mind. I got my first build going on here and all components are recognized in the BIOS and everything seems to be working just fine, but when I boot the computer with the Windows XP Pro installation disk in my Dvd drive I just get 'Reboot and Select Proper Boot Device or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device.' Do I need install drivers on my dvd drive first? Or Do I have to use a boot disk? Or Is it something much simpler? Here's my system:
-Intel D865PERLL Mobo -Intel Pentium 4 Socket 478 3.0Ghz -512 MB Sigle Channel Ram -Aopen DUW1608/12x Dvd -Sata HD in Master -Maxtor HD in master -Radeon A9200Se 64MB -Windows XP Pro Any help would be appreciated. |

If your first boot device is set in the bios to the CD rom, you should be able to boot from the XP CD. Is this a fully legal XP disk or a burned copy? Burned copies often don't boot.

I can boot and install WinXP from my DVD drive so thats not it, Second I slipstreemed SP2 into WinXP and made my own boot disk in Nero but I have the original and it boots and installs from that disk fine.
Is your DVD drive setup as your first boot device? |
