error at shutdown
XP pro, SP2.
When shutting down (not restarting) I am getting an error message that reads:" The drive is not ready for use; it's door may be open. Please check drive A: and make sure a disk is incerted and that the dr. door is closed". Funny part is that I have no dr. A: on this box. Hmmmmm? any help appreciated B |

Just a thought, since A: is reserved for a floppy drive and you say you don't have one installed, check in the Device Manager and see if a floppy drive (not the floppy controller) is listed. If it is, Remove it and reboot. Don't know for sure this will fix it but it's worth a try.

thanks
Hey, I just realized what your name is. I am 50yrs old, so it has some meaning to me. Of course it may still have meaning in todays world, I am not of it any more.
Anyway, Thanks. You were right. Shame on me. I looked at device manager, and saw nothing wrong. No red X, or exclamation mark, forgeting the fact that there is no floppy. I had to disable it, because uninstalling it, only made it want to reinstall it when I rebooted. Do you have any ideas as to why this would just start on its own? I'm mostly curious. Something I will check is my BIOS, for the start up proceedure, maybe some how A: got in the list? I havn't changed anything in there, so I don't know how it would. Thanks again, I appreciate it. B |
