Norton Ghost 2003
I just used Norton Ghost 2003 to create an image of my entire hard disk. When I highlighted the image to the left of it it said Modified 4/4/2005 1:21 AM. But when I created the image the time was actually about 12:21 AM. I didn't understand the discrepency so I emailed Symantec and all they said was "this is not an issue. The modified time is the time at which the backup operation was completed or the time where the changes was done to the backup image. There is nothing to worry about as this will not cause any issues while restoring the image."
Well I realize it won't affect the restore operation but it still does not explain the 1 hour discrepancy I'm seeing. I've already checked my computer and my machine is set for Central Time Zone(I'm in Minnesota) and my clock is displaying the correct time. Anybody know why there might be a 1 hour discrepancy between what my clock showed and the time that Norton Ghost displays as the time the image was made? |

Smth better
It's just one of the Symentec bugs. This descrepancy was due to the chenging of time, you know what i mean. And that's all.It won't repeat again.
That's all.I was using norton ghost for a while, but i found better restoring system. It works faster than NG and there is no such bugs like NG has. Acronis True Image 8.0-is my about how to back up in the best way. http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing...cts/trueimage/ Just check it.And make your own decission. |

the time stated by the program might be the time the task was finished instead of started

No the backup procedure only took like about 10 minutes to complete. I emailed Symantec again and they suggested that I update my BIOS or it might be an issue with the CMOS battery. I'm kind of reluctant to update the BIOS because if you do something wrong I think you can fry your motherboard can't you? And my motherboard was installed new last August so how can the battery be bad?
Although at times when I've installed the operating system there have been times when I've noticed the correct time is already displayed and at other times it's one hour fast. I don't know if that is an issue or not. |
