Question delay click sound and double click sound

I dont know if this is a good place to post this problem but here it goes. I have reinstalled Windows XP. I wanted to get rid of some clutter on my drive plus create some partitions for documents and stuff. Well since then, everything I click on has this click sound that is delayed like click and then click again. Everything seams to be ok when it does this but is just anoying. Also when I get sounds like when a friend on my yahoo messenger list comes online or goes off, the sound is delayed. You hear part of the beginning and then the rest a little after that. Same thing with email notification in Outlook. Anyone have any suggestions.

Did your reinstall include a reformat? Did you remember to reinstall all the drivers, including the sound drivers?
