Turn off automatically reboot and read the bluescreen next time it bombs.

Looks like several possibilities. Check this list and see what combination of software may apply to you.

Here is a list of possible problems. According to the article, that kind of error is typically hardware-related, though not always. The first parameter listed should give more information on the type of error you had, which may help narrow the possibilities.

Do you know what the minimum requirement is for memory in Windows 2000? I just realised there is only 256MB worth running and I think it might be making it unstable.

256MB is more than enough. It may not be the amount of memory that is causing the problem, but the quality. What kind of memory do you have? What brand PSU?

Do you have more than one anti-virus program running?
That can cause it. I know from experience.

Windows 2000 won't boot
Coming from my last thread my computer seems to be going from bad to worse. I tried to update the BIOS on my motherboard. After I followed the instructions, I rebooted Windows 2000, only to find it keeps freezing at the boot-up screen. Would I need to re-install Windows, or do something else?

Before you reinstall win2k, I would check the hardware. It does not make sense to spend the time reinstalling when you may well have a hardware issue. To test the memory, use memtest86 this runs from a bootable floppy. There is no need to have an os installed. Test the hd with the mfg's utility for checking the drive. Again this runs from a bootable floppy. Once you have checked the hardware, then you can try a repair install or a clean install.

BTW that is not a quality power supply. It can cause you problems as well.
