Question Can I create partitions after OS instal

Sorry if this is question has been over done in the past. I've been reading all the various posts but am just seeking clarification, thanks.
I have just built another system (but still a newbie at this) and it all seems to work ok (what a surprise to me!)
OS is Windows XP home and I've used a Maxtor 160GB. On installing the OS, I left the hard drive as 1 partition but on reflection I think I should have made at least 2 partitions.
Nothing except the various hardware is on the drive yet - no programs or anythiing, so this being the case, can I/should I do anything at this stage, such as reformatting to 'start again' to partition or am I stuck with this postion 'as is' or using a third party software to achieve this?
No biggy, but I think it might've made sense to create several partitions.
Thanks in anticipation.

Disk editing

Hey,you can use third party disk-editing software to do it.And you won't pay for it!
Just load free trial version, which is for 15 days, than make the neccesary number of partitions!!It's pretty cool idea of free version.

Partitioning without reboot,man!

Hopefuly it helps.

I've found Partition Magic to be one of the best partition management tools out there.

Thanks for the replies guys. As I have'nt gotten around to actually doing anything with the 'puter other than installing the hardware and seeing it all worked - no 'tweaks or anything, just wondered if I could kind of 'start agin'. However, thanks for the info and I'll look at the software you all suggest.
