where is this missing HD space?

one of my comps with XP pro is like this. 2.5 gb of space is missing, let me explain.

by checing the properties of my folders i see 3gb of space being used in my 'documents and settings' folder.

under that i see the space is being used in the folder iwth my login name.

under that, when i select every item in that folder, it only adds up to 500 mb, yet the folder above it says that there is 33 gb being used by files in this folder. where are the other 2.5 gb?

this happened to me before and i discovered if i made a new user account, moved everything to it, and deleted the old one the 2.5 gtb would be freed up, but is there another way?

Go into Folder Options; enable showing hidden files and folders and disable hiding protected operating system files. Press OK and go back to the Documents and Settings folder. You should be able to see more folders, and one or two of them will be your culprit (I'm guessing Temp and Temporary Internet Files are where the 2.5 GB are sitting).
