reformatting and 2 windows xp os's
The last time I reformatted my computer it wouldn't let me completly erase the previous install of xp. It's about time to reformat again (virus's and spyware) and I was wondering if anyone can tell me how to get rid of the two on there so I don't end up with three. I have two 80gb hard drives my master drive has full windows xp on it and the other seems to have only misc settings and such that can't be opened, moved, or deleted. I don't know if thats all thats left of the old os but at each start up it shows an option for both and if you swich over to the old one it basicly freezes.

Back up any needed data from the two drives and then during setup, delete the partitions on both drives. Create a new partition(s), format, and do a fresh install on the drive you want XP to reside on.

That's indicative of a corrupted or defective hard drive. You probably should zero fill it and run diagnostics on it with the drive manufacturer's utilities.
