You have to change the dropbox from save as a text file (*.txt) to save as all files (*.*).

Put quotes around the file name in the save as box.
"index.html" |

mmm thanks glc. just one more question. how did this happen? did i turn on extensions or something? i mean when i just renamed the file to index.html or any .html extension it would change it to and html file. but now it doesnt. and as u said use "index.html" and save it works but its easier to rename for me. i just wondering if i can get it to do that

In your folder options, uncheck "hide extensions for known file types".
