I sold a laptop with an OEM version of XP Pro on board. I know how to alter the registry to change the name to the new owner but how do I do that with Microsoft so he can get support? Thanks!

I would like to know how to alter the registry files so that my Pavilion has my name rather than HP_Owner.
Is it a difficult process? How many changes have to be made?

Thanks, but not really what I was looking for.
Trying to change the C:\Documents and Settings\HP_Owner folder. Whenver I try it says it is a Windows System folder and is required for Windows to run properly. Cannot remove or rename. But I think that is excatly what MichaelD needs. Nice little hack. |
