Out look express and AOL
It seems that when I open outlook express on my daughters machine AOL starts up, logs on, and does its normal display all of its crap that I can't stand. How do I prevent this form happening.. I'm using her machine until my new keyboard arrives for mine. She doen't use it so I'm assuming AOL highjacked the program when it was installed.

I don't want to configure AOL to use outlook, I want to prevent it from opening when I using outlook. My ISP is sbcglobal.

Check IE for the default internet connection... I believe Outlook may pull it from there.

In Internet Options, Connections, set it to never dial a connection. Make sure you set your Outlook Express preferences to share connection options with Internet Explorer and to use any available connection. Also uncheck the item in Outlook Express to open your default instant messaging program on startup.

I don't have OE6 here to check, and this is not a "feature" in OE5 - so I'm guessing it's in tools, options somewhere.

Outlook Express shares those settings with Internet Explorer. So those settings must be changed Internet Explorer>Tools>Internet Options>Connections tab and uncheck "Always dial my default connection," click OK.
You can also get to the same place in Control Panel>Internet Options. |
