At the top of the error message window it should tell you which program is causing this problem. May be necessary to use the Task Manager Startup tab to shut down the referenced program on start up. Assuming XP, go to Start>run>type: msconfig>click on Start Up and uncheck the program causing the error. Then reboot.

Oops!
Guess I should have paid more attention to the forum you posted in. Assuming XP when it's in a 98 forum is kinda dumb on my part! Can you get into Safe Mode by tapping the F8 key during start up? You should be able to access Msconfig from there and shut down whatever is trying to startup that is causing the problem. You may end up having to do an over-the-top-repair. Here's a how to thread. |
