Any tips for replacing motherboard

Motherboard on my wifes system is going south on me, Plll. I ordered a new ASUS P4 board. I would like to keep the hard drive intact. Runnig XP home with SP2 update. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

There is a Pcmech daily tip on how to change hd, to a new motherboard and use the repair function to reinstall everything back.

Exaclty what type of tip do you want? A motherboard, or a Xp?

Thanks I check the daily tips. This will be my first attempt at repacing a mother board on a system running XP with out reloading the software.
