Custom Install

I think that is what it is called. Could someone tell me how to uninstall and reinstall Outlook Express? It got messed up when I downloaded some upgrades. I have since deleted them and tried numerous things but nothing has worked. I now face uninstalling outlook and reinstalling it. I have no clue how to do this. I have my windows CD. Thanks for any help

OE can be unistalled\reinstalled in add\remove programs\windows components.

. . . and yet another option you have, if you have a fairly recent version of Internet Explorer and Outlook Express, is to try a repair from the System Information applet: Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Information. . . and from the "Tools" menu, choose "Repair IE Tool" (or some such wording - I don't have a Win98 box handy). I believe if you installed OE at the same time as IE, the repair will redo both. (Though my memory isn't all that great for that one).

If your current version of OE was fairly old, another way to refresh it would be to visit Windows Update, and download a more recent version.

The method Digitalic mentions should work very well, too = it offers the complete removal. You could then reinstall by any of several methods, choosing whatever version you like best.

You may want to back up your current mailboxes, and address book entries, before you try your repairs.

Best of luck
. . . Gary

The Repair IE Tool doesn't affect OE.
