Please be more specific.
Also note the forum rules prohibit discussions on how to bypass passwords. |

If it's the computer that has a power-on and/or a cmos password, you can reset that by removing or moving a jumpter switch. You'll have to open up the computer and look for a CMOS reset jumper switch. |

If you aren't sure how to do what 1badtech suggested, this thread can help explain it for you.

You can also accomplish the same thing by just removing the battery. That will reset the BIOS to default.

I am giving this computer to a friend and he is on disability and cannot afford a new one. another friend has one from his friend's old office Win 98 Dell. The original password to get is there but no one remembers it. I understand that the BIOS controls this and that i know how to get there but I have not done it yet. Is this possible. thanks

You don't "get to" the bios....you just reset it. I think they (mods) will probably not want much more discussion than that. The way to reset the bios is stated in this thead and with greater detail in the the one I linked to. Hope that clears it up.

I think we've allowed enuf discussion. As glc stated earlier, Forum Rules prohibit discussion of bypassing passwords. Gotta close it now.
