Enable WIN98 USB Support

Here's a dumb question. I can enable USB support for DOS in the BIOS. But how do I access it? What drive letter do I use?

If I understand your question right, the device you're trying to access in DOS must support DOS and have supplied the drivers.

WIN98 USB Support

Mmmmmm I think your right. I don't have DOS drivers for the USB support, only windows. So my thinking [however wrong I may be] was that if I enabled the support via the bios, I would be able utilize the usb drive.

Does that make sense?

Maybe we can help you better if you could tell us exactly what you need to accomplish.

WIN 98 - USB Support

Hey, there's an idea.

Just want to be able to use my usb flash drive while I'm in DOS.
For instance, I'd like to transfer files from my laptop to another computer and not use a floppy as the file is too big to put on a disk.

I don't even know if my flash drive is USB DOS compatible.

At least I can get away with sounding stupid due to my newbieness

Nope. The closest thing you are going to get is access at a DOS prompt within Windows - and it won't work in safe mode either. Might as well just drag and drop in Windows.

Yep, it is - In a sense, we're all perpetual newbies as new stuff is constantly coming out. And not everybody knows everything about everything. (Although there are some folks here that are fantastically knowledgeable.)

Don't even be shy about asking questions. That's how we all learn. It won't be long before you'll be helping and answering questions
