yes, i'm an idiot

Sometimes I wish computers didn't make me feel so stupid. Anyways, my question is how do I get everything to open up normally instead of in windows media player? By that I mean that all my desktop icons open in media player.

What operating system are you using?

Do you scan for viruses, spyware, trojans and hijackers on a regular basis?

Did this just start recently? Did anything else happen prior to this...something weird or strange?

I read that, looked at Crickets picture and burst out laughing...

Sorry little off topic...
Ahem anyway.... N4, didn't you just have a load of registry problems?
Any chance this is related? any other problems besides the WMP one?

XP is the os.Yes I use Symantec and scan regularly. I also run ad-aware and spybot frequently. Easy there, don't let your post count go to your head.

rjfvillarosa, that was really funny -- when I read your post, then I went back and looked at Cricket's picture and burst out laughing. Then I read it to my husband and showed him, and he burst out laughing, too. Cricket -- that was great. Thanks for the good laughs.

Don't know what you meant by that remark or who it was meant for...but right click on the icons and click on Properties. In the General tab you should see "Opens with" and the name of the program that opens when the icon is double clicked...are all the icons identified as opening with Media Player? If they are, use the "Change" button to change the program it opens with when you double click that icon. Make the change to one of the icons, see if it works, reboot the computer and see if the change sticks or if it reverted back to Media Player.

Let us know what happens.
