XP Freezing up when using Internet
Hey all,
On my computer (which is computer1 is my sig) that I built about a month ago, I've recently noticed that when I do something that involves accessing the Internet, sometimes XP will just freeze up for about 30seconds or so. The HDD Activity light will just stay solid; I can still move the mouse and click on things, but anything that should happen as a result of clicking on a button or a keystroke won't happen until the system unfreezes, including Ctrl-Alt-Del. This can happen when I am checking my email, going to a webpage (even if the one before it loaded fine), or copying and pasting things from IE into Word or Excel. While it doesn't happen very often (probably 2-3 times per day) its becoming very annoying and I would say it only started in the last 2 weeks or so. I've done the usual AV and Spyware scans using Norton AntiVirus and Microsoft Anti-Spyware, respectively. Also, something else that may be related to this which started around the same time: After installing some windows updates, I found that my computer will not reboot. It will get to the Windows XP logo with the little status bar and then just hang. The only way to get it to boot up properly is to turn the power off and then back on. -PJB |

Do a system restore back to before you did the updates.
