sound problem - windows xp

hi,

Can anyone help me please,

Just become aware of a sound problem with my PC.

When playing music files on either WMP, or Itunes I've today started to experience that after a short time the sound on my PC is lost . Despite rebooting, reinstalling drivers to the integrated soundmax soundcard the problem remains.

On vestigating sound settings in contol panel, each time I find that slider for WAV output is set to the minimum, hence no sound. I can restore levels again but this is only temporary until the sound is lost again and I then have to repeat the process over again.

Hope I've explained, and would appreciate any of your thoughts and suggestions

Cheers

Hi plonk,

Welcome to PC Mechanic !!

I had a similar problem with my Audigy (1 & 2) sound cards where settings mysteriously would change. Installing the latest rev of the software cured the problem. I know you said "reinstall" but did you try the latest revs?

PS: It might help if you list some spec's, like sound card make/model, mobo, OS...
